its amazing how leonidas knows he is going to die but his pride for sparta and the love for the queen (his wife) is what kept him to fight and for those few left alive fought strongly along side with him.

The Persian army only had 280,000 Foot soldiers Seeing as only 800 ships survived the storm out of 1200 sent. There were 3700 some odd Greek troops and 301 Spartans. A Greek betrayed them all not a Spartan.

They went against 70-1 odds, Not 5600-1 odds like the movie and unintelligent retards lead you to believe. Yes it was a good movie... Yes they did a great job symbolizing the sacrifice. No it isn't all true.

Leonidas stayed and died cause the Prophet really said roughly translated into English "Sparta will lose its king, or burn to the ground." He went and died out of a sense of duty to his country, NOT because he had no fear, Spartans were trained to use that fear.

Life long traing can keep a soldier fighting, but when the fighting starts it takes more than mere training even for a spartan. They were only trained how to fight. Believing in what you fight for comes later.

Religion is not what stopped the right evolution, but the weakness of human compasion. Without this flaw we would have continued on the path of the Spartans, rooting out the weak, letting only the strongest survive. If we had stayed like that we would be truly great today.
